Jan Braathu, OSCE representative on freedom of the media, gave us some insight on his work. His influence is limited to soft power – offering assistance, providing standards and recommendations. The OSCE works without an approved budget since 2021 – which shows the difficulties in finding agreement amongst the 57 member states and influences the work of all it’s activities. Misinformation through social media channels, political influence and the role of artificial influence in the media are major concerns of the Norwegian diplomat.
